Probably one of the well-loved Ilonggo vegetable dishes is the Laswa. Laswa is a boiled vegetable soup made of squash, okra, shrimp, eggplant, and some greens. This dish is common in Ilonggo-speaking cities like Bacolod and Iloilo.

While I was in lloilo a few weeks back, I have already planned to explore the various Ilonggo foods that I don’t normally get to eat. These are some of the foods that are truly Ilonggo but are only served on rare occasions. Among these foods that I badly wanted to try again is the Chicken Binakol.

I heard of the brand Dulgie’s sometime late last year or early this year. Those who have been following my blog since 2006 can confirm how I love the Calea Cakes of Bacolod so much.
So when I first heard of Dulgie’s I can’t help but ask people if is it really at par with my favourite cake house. Many said yes. Some wouldn’t dare compare the two, as according to them each has its own character.

Probably one of the most easily-identifiable signature foods of Iloilo City is Batchoy. Batchoy is a soup with egg noodles, freshly chopped spring onions, pork offal, chopped garlic, black pepper, chicaron, and in some instances, fresh egg.
Batchoy originally originated in the District of La Paz in Iloilo City. Many would say that the best and original La Paz Batchoy originated at the eateries near the La Paz Public Market.
