In a recent event I attended, I has been reiterated how important fiber is in your daily diet. Our doctors and nutritionists oftentimes tell us that to have a normal and regular bowel movement, a high fiber diet is a must. Fiber is also very important in cleaning our digestive tract. It acts as a broom and removes all the unnecessary stuffs inside our intestines and stomach.

Since time immemorial, our parents would always tell us to eat heavy during breakfast for school. And up until today when we work in corporate offices. And yes we really know it by heart that breakfast is important. But preparing one early in the morning is a cumbersome task. One has to cut at least an hour of sleep just to cook breakfast.

I was at the Manila Polo Club last night during the launching of Philippine Tatler’s Best Restaurants Guide 2009. This year’s edition was made in partnership with Nokia.

The society’s alta sociedad were all there to grace the launch event in a cocktail party.

Undeniably, corned beef is one of the most preferred breakfast foods in the Philippines. This is mainly because of corned beef’s affordability, and ease of cooking. No skills is needed when cooking corned beef, just heat the oil, saute some onions and garlic and voila, instant breakfast!

But aren’t we tired of this unending cycle? Sauteed corned beef forever?

Last weekend I travelled from Mall of Asia all the way to the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf to spen an evening of desserts with Discovery Travel and Living’s World Cafe Asia star Bobby Chinn!

    Bobby Chinn in Manila

Bobby has run several highly acclaimed restaurants in Vietnam before opening Restaurant Bobby Chinn, including Camargue, Saigon Joe’s in Ho Chi Minh City, Miro, and the Red Onion Bistro in the Hanoi Towers (formerly the infamous “Hanoi Hilton” prison). Now he owns his own Asian Fusion restaurant in Hanoi, Vietnam.

During the evening we were served with Chicago Cheesecake, Camembert Oreo Cheese Tart, Choco Fudge, Warm Chocolate Cake, Lemon Squares and Triple Berry Coffee Cake paired with cafe latte while listening to Bobby Chinn’s funny anecdotes.
