…because life is sweet

When in Angono Rizal, one of the restaurants that should never be missed is the Balaw Balaw Specialty Restaurant.

This is the third time that I have actually been to Balaw Balaw restaurant in Angono. And as always they never failed to amaze me. The food is great.

Balaw balaw is actually a kind of dipping sauce that is somewhat a cross between bagoong and buro. They normally come in pinkish color.

I am always fascinated to see the large vat where the rice, fish, oyster, squid, shrimp, pork, vegetables all come in one packgaing. It’s some sort of a barrio fiesta where everyone gets anything from just one food container.

But they also have the regular a la carte menu for small orders. Aside from the regular Filipino fares, they also serve not-so-ordinary foods for the brave souls like fried frogs, yes you read it right, FROGS. salad with rose petals, and a whole lot more.

When we had our lunch at the Balaw Balaw in Rizal last week, we ordered two large vat of set foods, and an additional order of fried frog legs, deep fried pork ear, crispy kangkong leaves and sinampalukang manok (chicken cooked in tamarind broth).

    Food is great, as always.
