Many are always tricked into believing that great food, fine dining experience in a uniquely Victorian-Inspired restaurant would scratch your budget. But Cesca Wine Cafe is something that is new, and will break all these stereotypes.

Located at the new hangout place Il Terazzo along Tomas Morato Quezon City, Cesca Wine Cafe is a place that exudes class. By just looking at its interiors, classy furniture pieces, its glistening chandeliers one would probably get intimidated by getting having a meal here.

But when I got the chance to examine its menu recently, I was a bit surprised that one would not need to shell out a fortune to experience fine dining.

Our slow-paced 4 hour lunch featured 8 great tasting foods from Cesca Restaurant’s menu.

For starter, we were offered Pumpkin Soup. The soup is good. its rich velvety texture can really be felt.

For appetizers we were served with Beef Salpicao with lots of sliced garlic and mushrooms. I love it! the meat cubes are just so tender and well marinated.

We were also served slices of fresh salmon with dill olives and capers on its side. I love the salmon. very smooth texture and has no stinky (malansa) odor and flavor.

For the main course we were served herb roasted chicken. This is probably one of my favorite during our food tasting session. The flavor of the herbs is very evident. It is served with a sauce on it side, but I prefer to finish my chicken as it is, no added sauced. Perfect!

Fillet of Dory was next in line. I thought I already had the best dish when I tried the chicken, but the fish fillet is superbly good! Dory is probably one of the most boring fishes to cook. It doesn’t have any flavor. But Cesca Wine Cafe was able to pull off a great tasting fillet. This is my personal favorite!

Pizza and Pasta were next in order. The pasta is OK but I loved the pizza more. It has goat cheese! and its topping’s so thick! A must-try.

All in all the lunch experience is great! At least now I know that fine dining experience need not be expensive. There’s always Cesca Wine Cafe for the great food, good ambiance at a good price you’ll definitely not regret.

They seem like a fine dining place, but their food is FAR FROM fine dining.

Yes, they have friendly waiters and a nice/cozy ambiance, but that’s where all good things end. I mean get this, ALMOST HALF the dishes in their menu were our of stock and it wasn’t even lunch time yet! We should’ve taken that as a sign to leave but we decided to take a chance and ordered their australian lamb chops and their meat(?) pizza. We requested that the lamb chops be cooked medium but it was served well-done. Given it was lamb, the meat was surprisingly tough. The pizza was also a disaster! It was priced at Php305 but it looked a like canteen pizza (think Lotsapizza but worse). It was THE worst pizza I had. I mean how could anyone screw up pizza? The cheese wasn’t fully melted, the pizza toppings would not latch on its crust, the pizza sauce tasted odd – everything was just off. In the end, we left disappointed. With what we’ve paid, we could’ve eaten in some other italian place with better food.
