Recently, I went to the Bellagio Square in Pedro Gil corner Bocobo street in Malate Manila. Bellagio Square is the newest hang-out place in Manila.

Bellagio Square was just opened last August 2008 and houses several restaurants.

Calea is a cake house located along Lacson Street, just beside the posh L’Fisher Hotel. Calea has been in the business for quite some time now. And by word of mouth, its loyal fans have been continuously increasing.

Long time ago, you would normally see passengers from Bacolod carrying boxes of barquillos and Piaya at the airport. But now the scene has changed a bit.

Barquillos and Piaya is still there, but a new box can also be spotted at the airport. It’s the bluish polka dot boxes from Calea.

So what’s with Calea anyway?

Calea Cake house serves probably one of the best cheesecakes in the country. I have tried various cheesecakes in Manila Cebu Iloilo and Davao, but compares to the rich velvety texture of its cheesecakes. And the crust, probably the only of its kind in the Philippines.

The cheesecake crust is a dessert in itself! It is a combination of honey oats and nuts pressed firmly.

Aside from cheesecakes, Calea also offers other sinfully great cakes. One of their best seller is the Chocolate Cake. I heard a lot of good raves about their Chocolate cake but it was only last week that I was able to finally try it.

Calea’s Chocolate cake ingredients are sourced from abroad. There was even a time when their supplier can no longer provide them their required ingredients that they were forced to stop baking this decadent cake.

For more than a year, no chocolate cake was made and sold at their shops. It was only recently that they were able to get their supplies again and continue to sell their best selling chocolate cake.

Aside from Cakes, Calea also offer other delights like pasta, and Sandwiches, they also offer coffee to complement their cake masterpieces.

Calea is located at Lacson Street, beside L’Fisher Hotel. They also have a branch at the ground floor of Robinson’s Mall and at the Lopue’s East Block Center

Bacolod is blessed with so many Chinese Restaurants (and I am not complaining!). But one of the restaurants I frequent is L’Sea Dimsum Restaurant along Lacson Street.
