  • Great Dining Experience at the 18th Street Pala-pala

    Oct 21

When in Bacolod, dining at the Pala Pala is a must. The system can be compared to Dampa in Metro Manila where one buys the freshest fish, prawns fish, oysters and all at anearby market then have it cooked according to your preference for a minimal fee.

The stalls in pala pala are like carinderia. No air conditioning, just electric fans, some have TV sets while others have Karaoke machines. The place is unpretentious.

But things have changed. Right now there’s the 18th Street pala pala Restaurant. New look but still the same system. The place looks better than the original pala pala too.

Upon entering the Restaurant, one gets to choose from a wide array of fresh seafoods at one of the counter. There’s the freshest tuna, blue marlin, tangigue, clams, oysters, crabs, shrimps, squids, and a whole lot more. Everything’s guaranteed fresh.

Upon selecting your seafood, instruct the staff how you want it cooked, whether fried, grilled, kilawin, sinigang, sizzling, etc.

For our dinner, we ordered one large squid to be grilled stuffed with tanglad leaves, tomatoes and onions. We also ordered half a kilo of squid for calamares and 700 grams of blue marlin to be grilled.

There were four of us sharing the meal, but the food we ordered is more than enough for five hungry souls.

We were even surprised when we got the bill. Our meals including 7 orders of rice and drinks did not even hit the thousand-peso mark. We chipped in around 230 pesos each for the bill. The blue marlin alone, at 700 grams only costs a little over than 200 pesos. And it was really cheap!

The new Pala pala Restaurant is located at the 18th Street, Bacolod City. A few blocks away from Lacson Street, the main thoroughfare of the city going north.
